This is a National Park where you can spend some time hiking and photogaphing. A car is required for this trip or you can hire one of the guides/drivers at the entrance. You can walk around the Limpiopungo Lagoon before driving to the car park for the refuge which is at 4800 masl

Cotopaxi Volcano is one of the greatest symbols of Ecuadors natural geography. It rises 5897 meters, and it is one of the highest active volcanos in the world. The predominant ecosystem in the park is moorland, with its own unique flora and fauna.

Make sure you go with warm clothing, even though the sun might be out it’s pretty cold up there. Be sure to have a 4x4 car if you want to go all the way up, otherwise you will only have the opportunity to se the lake.

Cotopaxi National Park is a protected area in Ecuador situated roughly 50 km south of Quito.
