The New Parkway Theater
This funky movie theater in uptown Oakland has a full restaurant with pizza and sandwiches, entrees, and drinks—including beer and wine. There are two screens, and instead of regular stadium seating they have lots of different couches and fun armchairs to kick back in. They screen new and old kid-friendly movies regularly. They also have special showings like Baby Brigade, when new parents are welcome to bring an infant, and no one's going to care if your baby is crying during the movie.
Beer, food, and a mix of couches and chairs for seating. Check out the programming!
Pizza, beer and much more in a comfy, casual space. Interesting screenings too!
Local, fair trade, independent, hip, couches, great food (definitely try their pizza!), popcorn, and of course movies! Check out their website for daily events as well (game night, trivia, comedy, and more)!
Fun place to see second run movies on a sofa with a beer and pizza in hand. They have events every night like trivia, drink and draw, and karaoke.
Community staple, second-run theater where you can have your food & drinks delivered to you at your couch (or other comfy living-room-like viewing situation). We <3 the New Parkway.
“A wonderful place to learn about California History morning. Art and artifact exhibits”
“[Alameda] Well, Oakland actually. Its a 30 minute bus or 15 minute drive away. A beautiful 3 or so mile walking and biking route around the lake. Best viewed around sunset. Can be romantic on warm nights (which unfortunately are rare).”
“Live reggae, roots & world music are featured at this intimate venue with an outdoor patio.”
“Catch a movie or see a show, this historic theater is a must see when in the Oakland area.”
“A historic and always lively venue. Great musical, comedy and other shows to see. It is a central hub of Oakland's history, with great places nearby to check out and explore. Catch a show while in town!”
