The Square itself is a bit sleepy but has some good restaurants. Park in the garage on Washington and ride the ferry to SF for a cheap tour of the Bay! The ferry validates your parking.

Yeah it is designed to be touristy, but it has some really cool places like Heinolds First and Last Chance Saloon where the floor is still crooked from the 1906 earthquake. Do yourself a favor and go down and explore. Have a beer, watch the ferries come in.
