Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the Sambadrome has been through refurbishment, restoring it to its original project, with an extra 12,500 seats being added to it. HOW TO GET THERE You can get there by alighting at the Praça XI or Central metro stations, as well as the Central do Brasil train station. From the South and North Zones: Metro to the Praça XI or Central stations. From the West Zone: TransCarioca BRT until the Alvorada Terminal. Connect with metro at the Vicente de Carvalho station until the Central do Brasil station. Santos Dumont Airport: LRV until the Central do Brasil metro station. Bus Station: LRV until the Carioca metro station, then connect with metro until the Praça XI or Central do Brasil stations. International Airport: TransCarioca BRT until the Alvorada Terminal. Connect with metro at the Vicente de Carvalho station, until the Central do Brasil or Praça XI stations.
