The Canary House -a Renovated Historic Hidden Gem!

Kick back and relax in this calm, just-remodeled space under the oak trees in historic Buffalo Gap. The master bedroom was a 1-room schoolhouse from the 1890's to 1914, where "Miss Sallie" Young taught (after she retired from 54 years in Texas public schools). After many additions and updates, it's now a quiet part of a Church Camp property (which you're welcome to explore). Perini Ranch Restaurant is nearby, as well as several other great places to eat - not to mention Abilene is 8 miles away.

It's centrally located; 3.5 miles to Mall of Abilene, 4 miles to universities, 3 miles to Expo Center, 1.5 miles to Downtown Abilene and right around the corner from local vintage/antique shopping! Our little unique bungalow is a smaller home located on Sayles Blvd. Right across the street from McMurry University, 10 mins to ACU, 9 mins to Hardin Simmons. Close to Downtown, and 10 mins to the Abilene Zoo, and Expo center. We do NOT allow pets.Parking available for NO More than 3 vehicles NO parking on the grass. Please note our parking can NOT accommodate big trailers or several large vehicles. Our home is on a busy street with VERY limited parking. No pets due to allergies.

Very simple, but beautiful and comfortable place to stay. You will be staying in one apartment of a duplex. Only 7 minutes away from downtown Abilene (by car), where you can find amazing cafes (Front Porch Cafe, Monk's cafe), and restaurants (Vagabond Pizza, The Local). House is located to close to Sayles Boulevard and Butternut street, which makes it a breeze to get around. There is also an air mattress that you can use for the 5th and 6th person. Thank you!!

Michael is retired and I am a partially retired RN of 33 years. Michael has owned this 1931 Craftsman style home since the late 1970s. We are lifelong Abilenians and live within a few minutes drive. Mike and I take great care to make your stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The home isn’t fussy so relax and make yourselves at home! Ask about our new disability adaptive aides!
