The Prairie Home

Settled far out in the Tallgrass Prairie of the Flint Hills, the Prairie Home provides wide and endless views from a private hilltop. All rooms in the home, which was built by local craftsmen from native limestone blocks, have huge windows which frame the natural art of the prairie. Handmade woodwork complements the extensive interior stonework. The soaring ceilings provide a backdrop for original art collected by the owners. And everywhere you look, the setting will take your breath away.

The Blue Door Cabin

If you want a retreat where you can sleep in, slow down and savor nature's beauty, the Blue Door Cabin, tucked in surprisingly hilly oak and hickory woods, with a beautiful view of the pond, is your destination. A 90 minute drive away from downtown Kansas City, surrounded by the quaint communities of Iola, Humboldt and Gas. Relax in multiple living spaces or out on the deck for beautiful sunrises or sunsets. If you'd like to unplug & spend time on a Kansas Farm, this place is for you! The original 100 year old farmhouse has been modernized to feel cozy, yet still has its original charm. There is plenty of land to enjoy a walk, play games, star gaze, or start the firepit in our quaint tree grove. Although located *RIGHT ON* 75 hwy, the trees offer some seclusion from the highway. Very convenient for visiting the local lakes, traveling through, or just wanting to get out of the city.

For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks available for the pond, and flora and fauna to find. ***Please note*** This is a dry cabin-meaning there are no water facilities inside, but there is an exterior entrance to a bathroom/shower off the main house that is available 24/7.

Located rurally (3 miles south of Chanute, Ks), we are listed as one of the top ten attractions with numerous flower beds, a historic 1874 stone schoolhouse, a Retail Soap Shop located in a restored barn (handcrafted soaps are made here on site), and the Summit Hill Gardens Event Center- for hosting celebrations of life.
