This 2 BR/2 BA unit has a sleeper sofa, so it can sleep six in a pinch, though the sofa would be best for 1 adult or 2 kids. It is in downtown State Center, 20 minutes W of Marshalltown, 25 mins E of Ames/ISU and 45 mins from Des Moines. Within 3-6 blocks are; -2 restaurants -1 bar -Bank with 24-hour ATM -Watson’s Grocery Museum -Gutekunst Public Library -One Room Schoolhouse -Restored Train Station -Public Rose Garden Come wander around and experience our farming village!

Our place is a 10 minute drive to I-35/Ames. Restaurants & a park are within walking distance. This space is a flat above a detached garage and has a lovely, rustic charm and is separate from the main house. The living room has a pull-out couch, increasing guest size from 4 up to 6. The space includes a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, smart TV, Wi-Fi, dining area and an outdoor grill. This is not handicap accessible as it requires going up one flight of stairs. Quiet & peaceful neighborhood!

The Henhouse Retreat- Hot tub, fire pit

The Henhouse Retreat is a beautifully restored 2 bedroom home converted from an original henhouse on our property. With breathtaking country views out every window you are sure to find this country retreat relaxing and enjoyable with many things to do close by like fishing, hiking, and a bike trail. Cute little towns to explore or cuddle up with a book & enjoy relaxation that comes with a deep breath in the country. Come as a family, some couples, or a little getaway, this home sleeps 7.

Happy Valley, A 4-bedroom peaceful farm house.

Happy Valley is located at the end of a peaceful 4 mile gravel road. If you are looking for a peaceful nature get away this is your place. This 4 bedroom, 1896 farm house, is nestled in a beautiful valley on Clear Creek. Farm is located 25 minutes from Ames and Marshalltown. Owners live on the adjacent property; yet privacy between the homes. The driveway is shared between both homes. Walking trails available June-September.

Welcome to The Hideaway on Hazel. Refreshed in May 2025. Our home is centrally located in Ames and is an easy walk to Jack Trice Stadium, Hilton Coliseum, and Reiman Gardens. Great location for football games, basketball games, and any other events at The Iowa State Center.
