For recreation there is hiking in the valley and nearby conservancy areas, biking on country roads, or cross-country, downhill or snowshoeing during the snowy months. Hawthorne is a 2-hour drive from NYC or a 2-hour Amtrak ride from Penn Station to Hudson, and then a 20 minute drive by car or taxi. Walk to Foreland, The Lumberyard, the incredible village cemetery, Thomas Cole House, restaurants and shops. Olana State Historic Site is right across the bridge! Athens, NY Entire House - 1 bedroom Quiet Country setting Winter time is a great time to escape to upstate NY. Guests have called it "a very cozy cottage in the woods". It is set back off the road and a great place to get away and unwind. 10 minutes from Exit 21 on the NYS Thruway and is an easy drive to several towns on the Hudson River. They are known for their restaurants, local shops and quaint downtowns. Area features outdoor activities: hiking trails, skiing and kayaking.

We recently rebuilt the entire interior of an old brick building and imagined the first floor (*** the entrance is at the back of our house***) as a guest unit for our friends & family during visits. When we do not have friends & family visiting, we are offering this space to you! We are architects by training and have placed our aesthetic energy in making this unit modern but also cozy.

We are just a 10 minute drive from Hudson's bustling Warren Street in the historic hamlet of Claverack. We live on the property, but our guesthouse is separate and private. It's all surrounded by our 2 1/2 acre garden, which is our passion as well as our profession. We've recently adapted a 2 year old standard poodle named Nora. She is a very shy little girl, and will win your heart. We are sorry, but we do not accept pets or children under 12.
