Our no-frills shepherd’s hut sits by the Drava River and a big wild meadow, just 4 km from Ptuj, Slovenia’s oldest town. Nature lovers (and friendly dogs) welcome! A nearby road offers easy access. Enjoy a BBQ lunch by the river, then relax as the sun sets, frogs sing, and stars light up the night sky. For the full countryside experience, earplugs are optional! Reachable only by boat, no road and no car — a 19th-century Crotto, once a lakeside tavern where fishermen stopped to eat and drink, reborn as a cottage on the water. Three bedrooms over two floors, so everyone gets their own room, and a covered veranda above the water with a view to Lugano. The boat is yours all stay, to navigate along the shore to the villages nearby. A big fireplace in winter; the veranda and a garden of centuries-old plane trees in summer. Total privacy, on a roadless shore.
