Enjoy the unique opportunity to spend time on a stunning Maryland horse farm and estate with private access to the Appalachian Trail in Maryland's Blue Ridge mountains. Located in historic Middletown, the farm is just 60 miles from downtown DC and 20 minutes west of Frederick. Our lovingly renovated 1900 guest cottage sits above an active mountain spring and beside the estate's main residence. You'll encounter chickens, cattle, horses and abundant wildlife as you hike and explore the property.

Civil War Farm House w/Heated (seasonal) Pool

Welcome to this historical Civil War Farm House. This stone home built in 1861 by Christian Shriver and was actively used as a field hospital during the war. Mrs Shriver prepared General Reynolds his breakfast on the first day of the battle (which he was killed). The Durboraw's moved here in the early 1890's and have remained here on the farm ever since. Please note, pool is open seasonally mid-May through mid- Sept. Please inquire to its opening/closing if booking around these times.

A wide path leads to Antietam Creek, popular for fishing, kayaking, and tubing. 45-min drive to Whitetail Ski Resort (30 miles); 1-hr to Gettysburg, PA; Close to Antietam Battlefield, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Hagerstown, Frederick, Washington, D.C., C&O canal bike trail and Appalachian Trail. We have a new larger tent for 2026! Queen size bed. We have also added a sauna to our retreat. Rest and recharge at this beautifully landscaped glamping retreat.
