This cozy cabin is located in Crawford County, Michigan, known for its military & State owned land. 60% of the county is available for recreation including ORV and snowmobile trails, XC skiing, kayaking, biking and hiking. The cabin is surrounded by ORV and snowmobile trails. It is centrally located in the northern part of the lower peninsula for easy day trips to areas such as Mackinac Island and Traverse City. Higgins lake, with a small beautiful beach is just a 5 minute drive from the cabin.

This sprightly home, with our sister one next door on its own private lot (book separately), are the ONLY ones on Margrethe on a natural hill, providing exclusive elevated lake views, w/ a bonus wide, flat lakeside area. Uniquely private on a street w/ only 3 homes, ours are separated from that 3rd non-lakefront one by a wooded lot. Experience the tranquility of a natural setting, with a dock & lakeside deck! The property is bounded on 3 sides by the Au Sable State Forest. Situated in a relatively remote portion of the lower peninsula, guests are virtually assured a tranquil stay. Whether you seek a romantic get away with someone special, or a lively get together with friends or family, this place offers something for everyone.

Just minutes from Hartwick Pines State Park or Forbush Corner for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. 20 minute drive from treetops resort in Gaylord. Camp Grayling (near I-75) holds occasional trainings see their FB for schedules.

Ski at Hansen Hills or bundle up and go ice fishing. We are about 10 minutes from the Manistee and Au Sable for fly fishing, canoeing, and tubing.

The Castaway on the Ausable River Holy Waters

Tucked into the tall pines alongside the Holy Waters. The Castaway offers an amazing location for enjoying all the AuSable has to offer. Just outside the kitchen guests will enjoy an outdoor area & firepit. The deck around the front of the home has a grill and river front view. The cabin itself sits about 200 feet back from the river. Entry into the river off the property is ankle deep rocky bottom. This is not a party destination.
