The Blue Cow Barn - Betsie Cottage

The Blue Cow Barn Accommodation is situated on a working farm, 1km from Barrydale town centre. Our farm has gone through many seasons - from a fruit farm to a dairy farm and now a guest farm. Our cottages are named after the cows that were part of the dairy and Betsie is our most flamboyant and eccentric cottage and cow. You'll love this cottage as it is situated in the original farm barn that dates back to the 1960's and the gorgeous mountain view. This cottage also has access to the hot tub.

Take a step back in time and sleep in a historical monument built in 1795 on this exquisite piece of farm property that has been lovingly restored. We practice regenerative farming and encourage biodiversity. This is a place to relax, reconnect and recharge. It is our happy place where we embrace all forms of wildlife and love our menagerie of domestic pets from pigs to turkeys to horses and lots of dogs. Come make memories at the Ostrich Cottage on our off- the -grid lifestyle farm. This is a unique and secluded place where you can relax, reload and have the best of both worlds. Our of-the-grid Spring buck cottage has one luxury bedrooms, a cosy covered veranda, a fireplace and a romantic wood-fired hot tub. The kitchen is fully equipped with your own designated barbecue area. The cottage is on the western side of the 4900 hectares Reserve and easily accessible from the main road (R323). Private little cottage in the field away from all the buzz. Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature. Just 5.5km gravel road. If very wet, you need a Suv or4 x 4 vehicle. All off the grid with no Eskom, no wi-fi, no tv. Only solar for lights, gas for hot water, stove and fridge/freezer. Wood for barbecue and fireplace.
