Chesnut Cottage - writers retreat @ Harper's Hill

The Chesnut Cottage is the perfect quaint romantic getaway or rustic writer's retreat. One of three AirB&B listings on our 10-acre property atop Harper's Hill, it is surrounded by woods and a short walk up from the Puget Sound where you can fish from Harper pier or kayak over to Blake Island. The Southworth ferry terminal is just over a mile away providing direct access to both Seattle and Vashon Island. Harper is the perfect base camp for exploring the beautiful Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas.

Start your mornings with sipping your coffee, enjoying the 180-degree ocean view, accompanied by the chirping of birds and the gentle sway of trees in the breeze. Spend your evenings on the beautiful deck, relaxing on the outdoor sofa, and basking in the serene beauty of the low-bank oceanfront on Rich Passage. Just a 15-min drive will take you to the vibrant heart of Port Orchard, making it the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience.

SOUND VIEWS

Enjoy the beautiful views of Puget Sound, Blake Island, Mt. Rainier and downtown Seattle from one of two decks off of the main floor. In cooler weather, the front sun deck is the perfect spot for happy hour or just relaxing. Take a short walk down the hill to visit the hamlet of Manchester. There's a public beach, outdoor pub, and other amenities available. The Southworth ferry will take you to West Seattle. Scheduled for Spring 2021, a "fast foot" ferry with service to downtown Seattle.

A relaxing 20-minute ferry trip from West Seattle or Water Taxi from downtown Seattle brings you to your own private cozy, Studio cottage with sweeping views of the Sound. Watch the ferries go by, relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the Olympic mountains, kayaking, a forest hiking trail with sea and Mount Rainier views, beach walks, and downtown Vashon (less than 10 mins away!). Please note: The parking lot is a few minute walk from the cottage.

The French Limousin cows may come up to your bedroom window, curious as to who is sharing the pastures this morning. The quiet will be startling, with little noise but coffee brewing in the kitchen.
