Casal de Alcube – simply gorgeous!

Main house: The house décor is simple, elegant and very welcoming. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and exquisite. A big front porch gives access to the main door. Walking in, there is an ample corridor which leads to the main living room on the right. This broad room (50m2/540ft2) also includes a fireplace. Two sliding doors give access to the dining room where you can find a long dining table, in which 12 people can comfortably sit. These two rooms take us to a balcony facing west, with an amazing view over Serra da Arrábida. On the left of the hallway there is a service bathroom and the kitchen. At the end of the hallway, the main suite. To the right, the bedroom; in front, the bathroom; and to the left, an office room. Starting with the main attraction, the room, it gives us access to a balcony facing south. Starting the day here with an amazing breakfast or ending it with a great book create those unforgettable memories. Privacy is total here! The bathroom includes a fantastic shower (90cmx200cm/2.9ftx3.6ft), two washbasins, and an incredible amount of light. The office room embodies a bookshelf, a sofa bed, and also a closet. There is also a wall closet in case further storage is needed (very unlikely). Back to the hallway and walking down the stairs, we can find the other living room. Ideal for the younger and providing a quicker access to the swimming pool. Two windows open to a covered porch, ideal for warm sunny days. On the right side of the living room a door leads to a suite, which includes a queen-size bed. On the left side, a small hallway gives us access to two bedrooms, both with two single beds and a bathroom. Going back to the main hallway and walking up the stairs we can find the attic. Here we can find a small living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. It’s important to note that this floor is not included in the price presented. The price presented is only for 8 people. Guests can access the entire property and enjoy its unique beauty. I will always be available for any information, recommendations, reservations, services and any maintenance in the house, if necessary. The well being of our guests is our main concern. The location is unique. The region is famous for its high quality wines (specially Moscatel), the delicious cheeses, the fantastic confectionary, and the unique hand-painted tiles. On the other side of the road, we've got "Quinta de Alcube" a famous winery with excellents wines. Less than a mile away (1km) we have a small village called Vendas de Azeitão where you can find the small tipical portuguese grocery stores. Another kilometer (1km) away from Vendas we will find Vila Fresca de Azeitão, known for its XVII century church (Igreja de São Simão), the wonderful Quinta da Bacalhôa, a beautiful royal palace built in 16th century and winery, and also the hand painted tiles (you can make your own here). There is also a supermarket here, Pingo Doce. One and a half miles further (2km) we will find Vila Nogueira de Azeitão where there are two supermarkets (Intermarché and Lidl), a pharmacy, and two restaurants famous for their fantastic gastronomy. São Lourenço Church and the wineries where you can do wine tasting, are mandatory stops here. Seven miles away (11km), Portinho da Arrábida: a small port facing south, flanked by several beaches with crystal clear calm waters. Considered one of the best beaches in Europe, it is ideal for children. The restaurants in the zone allow you to enjoy the amazing fish caught here. The Franciscan Convent built in the sixteenth century and the Fort should also be visited. Eleven miles away (18km) we can find Sesimbra, a fishing village with a charming Roman castle. Fifteen miles away (24km) the Espichel Cape, the second most western point in Europe. The landscape is fabulous, with dinosaurs footprints still visible. There is sand to an extent that makes the beach unutterable. The quality of the restaurants is another main attraction. Four miles away (7km), we can find Setúbal. The market in this city is considered one of the best ten markets in the world, ideal to buy fresh fish and vegetables. The historical part of the city is also interesting. From the Fort (Forte de São Filipe) you have a privileged view over the Setúbal Bay, also considered one of the prettiest in the world, it is truly breathtaking. Here there are several options related to water: from seeing dolphins to fishing, riding in galleons to choosing your own beach for the day, or even going to the small sand mountains naturally created by the ocean. Lastly, you can also take a Ferry to Tróia (it takes 15min), a Peninsula with miles and miles of beaches and bright white sand. We recommend the use of own transport. Our pool is available to you along with a beautiful patio and bbq area. Aldeia De Luz is a short walk from typical Portuguese restaurants and a short drive from supermarkets. Public transport is infrequent, a car is preferable. Palmela Castle is close-by, as is the Arrábida Natural Park. Beaches, Setúbal, Lisbon and the airport are within easy reach.

Panoramic views of ocean and São Filipe castle

Arriving at Olival de São Filipe means first stopping to take in the view. The high location of the seven-hectare estate provides rich vistas. “Even more beautiful than in the pictures”, is a frequently heard response. The panorama is varied and changes constantly under the influence of the sun, clouds and water. You look out over the Atlantic Ocean, the Tróia peninsula - with a sandy beach as far as the eye can see - the Fort of São Filipe, the mouth of the Sado river and the city of Setúbal.
