The Magical Cabin on Back Creek

Magic is the word most people use when they visit this hidden gem. Built in 1939 as a fishing cabin by a gentleman who incorporated box cars as rafters and beams, dates still visible since removing the attic. By far the best place I've ever lived. I decided to share it with others who love to explore, who love listening to the voice of the creek or who come just to sit on the porch high above the creek with a spouse, friend, family, or alone. For the best sleep, open the bedroom window!

The Cabin

Charming log cabin in great Floyd County location for 2 guests only. Large family room with gas fireplace. Separate bedroom with queen bed, well appointed kitchen, & single bath with stall shower. Located ~22 minutes from I-81, 35 minutes from Virginia Tech, 22 minutes from Floyd Country Store, & ~ 40 minutes to Roanoke. No smoking/vaping on property. Our home is beside/visible from the cabin. We are available if you need anything, but we respect your time and will give you your privacy.

Homeplace

The Homeplace is in the rural countryside of Floyd, VA surrounded by a family farm with a winding creek nearby. You will enjoy beautiful views of pasture fields that may have cattle and sheep grazing and possibly see various wildlife. This home, built in the 1940’s and situated beside a paved road, has been lived in and gently loved. While experiencing the nostalgia of an old home you will also enjoy modern conveniences such as WIFI, central heat/air, and a fully stocked kitchen and bath.

Enjoy a comfortable and convenient stay on the entire private 2nd floor of the home. You’ll have access to 3 large bedrooms that can sleep 6. There are 2 queen rooms and 1 twin, a kitchenette and large bathroom. You will be close to everything, only a few minutes off I-81, 10 minutes to Radford University and 20 minutes to Virginia Tech. A King bed to take all your worries away with a sofa sleeper for a little extra room. There will be cold beverages in the fridge for you if you would like. **This is for a 1 bedroom basement studio with private entrance, 1st floor is occupied by the host or tenant. *Pets can be considered on a case by case basis…please message host for more details.*

Situated on 3 private acres at the top of an end-state-maintenance road with streams and hiking paths, the property exemplifies the beauty and diversity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Cabin is a luxurious rural escape, with a 3-person hot tub. Located on a permaculture homestead and native plant sanctuary, the space overlooks the garden and is surrounded by forest. Natural/local materials were used throughout (built in 2023). For larger groups, check out the guest house next door (Airbnb: Guest House on Homestead near Floyd/Blacksburg). ~10 miles to Floyd, ~20 miles to Blacksburg, ~35 miles to Roanoke.
