Hi There!
The Glenview is one of Oakland's friendliest and most beautiful neighborhoods! This home is only a few blocks from great restaurants, a small grocery shop, an incredible park, and close to public transportation that will take you to San Francisco (trip from our door to downtown SF via public is ~45 min, shorter (~30 min) if you are traveling during the morning work commute).
This neighborhood has wonderful neighbors that surround for blocks! Two blocks away, there are mid- to upscale Sushi, South American, Italian/Pizza, Thai, and California/American restaurants. There is a wine bar, yoga studio, coffee shop and breakfast eateries too! A large and wonderful Oakland park is also around the corner.
Your Bedroom:
This bedroom, bathroom and small lounging area are part of a larger home but on a level all on its own and with a private entrance. Staying here is a mostly-private experience....What exactly does that mean? The bedroom is on ground level and accessed from the backyard (which we use as a family and you are welcome to also enjoy). The three areas shown in the pics are sectioned off from the rest of the lower level of the home via wall and sliding door (seen behind the couch). We occasionally visit the other side of that wall/door to do laundry and access our garage - and you may here some minimal sound through that wall on those occasions though we try to be respectful and quiet when doing so. We definitely want to be transparent that you will be sharing walls with a family with 2 young kids and although they are wonderful kids, they are not always conscientious of being quiet!
The bed itself is a QUEEN bed. Early on in this rental we received a review that it was not very comfortable -- it is a firm mattress and I'm guessing that wasn't his preference. In response to that comment, we added a highly reviewed mattress topper (we absolutely want you to be comfortable!). Should you prefer the firmer mattress, we will work with you to remove the mattress topper and store it out of your space. WiFi internet access is free but there is no TV. The space is simple and uncluttered, great for singles, couples, or possibly a couple with a baby.
Also Included in Rental:
~Fresh linens, clean blankets, towels, soap/shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, iron.
~Morning coffee and tea.
~Parking is easily available on the street at no fee.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a small coffee/tea bar stocked with some good coffee/tea options, a very mini-fridge with cream, but NO access to a kitchen with this rental.
Pets:
Our pets.... we have a chicken coop in our backyard with 4 lovely hens. The coop is approximately 20 meters from the house. The girls do cluck a little bit throughout the day.
We also have a very sweet black lab mix named Mojo. He is never allowed downstairs on the same level as the rental space, but uses the backyard when we are out there.
Your pets....we have enough pets. Sorry, your pets are not allowed.
About us:
We are a family of four -- two 8-yr old boys and two moms (an environmental scientist and educational consultant). The home is actually a duplex and we used to rent out the other unit on AirBnB but now to long term tenants.

The door lock is on a code. Prior to your arrival, I will send you your code for the door and you are welcome to arrive on your first day any time after 3 pm with no need to coordinate a check in time or to get a key from us.

We live in Oakland and have two young boys. They are pretty much the center of our life right now -- joyous and full-spirited little beings. Alicia is an environmental scientist and Cory an educational consultant. We love our neighbors and greater Oakland/East Bay community, try to tread lightly on the earth, and affect change where we can. We love to interact with our tenants but its also unnecessary if you prefer the solo-time.
