For the benefit of potential guests I would like to point out a few things that Nancy mentions in her review. Firstly, my apartment is in a residential block of Girona, full of families and couples who work in the city. Guests have an authentic taste of life in Catalonia, it is not a block of holiday apartments nor a hotel. The community has a "quiet by 10.30pm" rule but during the day everyone goes about the business of living. It is unfortunate for someone such as Nancy who was a researcher at the university, who wanted to work from home in relative quiet, but not really surprising. I guess with (Hidden by Airbnb) calls required she could not study at the university library.
Secondly the issue of smells. I believe Nancy was very sensitive to them and I noted that all the cleaning fluids, soaps, shampoos and washing up liquids I left were stored away. As soon as she mentioned a problem with the small lounge rug I removed it, dry/cleaned it and did not return it to the apartment during her stay, as she requested. All blanket, duvets and pillows I suggested she store in the spare bedroom as she had been out to buy her own. In Catalonia it is common practice to dry clean these at the end of winter and with clean covers and pillowcases for each guest. I was not aware that the parquet floor down in all but the bathroom and kitchen also smells, but in 3 months I am sure she could use the products she preferred.
Finally the issue of chairs I think must be a personal thing, There is a new comfortable sofa, 4 brand new padded dining chairs and two vintage comfy swivel chairs in case you were wondering! As a responsible host I am always happy to listen to my guest's concerns and appreciate all the helpful comments Nancy made during her stay. Those that I could, I acted upon.
