Peak sunset and leaf season are upon us! Take in the breathtaking vistas and comfy breezes from this historic property. Evening skies are spectacular. Days even prettier. With so many terrific reviews of our 1st cabin, we built another! Although there's no electric, everyone has been thrilled with our Glamping experience. We make getting outside easy and very comfy! With an awesome bed, solar lights, plenty of water, fan, propane heater, and private shower house, you won't want to leave.

Come & enjoy the beautiful countryside, fresh mountain air and stress-free environment at the private Jefferson Sea Cabin #2.

Perched on a ridge under mature cedars, our cabin offers eastern views of the skyline. The views are big and far. Some say you can even see Portugal! Bring your binoculars and count how many water towers you can see during the day. And in the evening, watch the stars and look for Mars and Venus from the comfort of rocking chairs on the deck.

The "Jefferson Sea" Cabin is named after the Jefferson Sea, a description many attribute to the nations 4th President, Thomas Jefferson, who enjoyed the sea-like view from his home at Monticello, a world heritage site that shares a similar view also from the Southwest Mountains and is just down the road.

Wake up relaxed and enjoy natural beauty of bucolic farmland with towns below. Breezes and wildlife are abundant including eagles, hawks, owls, turkey, fox, rabbit, deer, and much more.

Because no chemicals are used on these lands, you can enjoy an evening show of blinking fireflies in the summer, blooming trees in the Spring, gorgeous foliage in the Fall and wildlife year 'round.

Our farm was the site of a Civil War battle, and we can tell you where both Union and Confederate troops mustered. Since then, a Richmond tobacco baron made this his summer estate. You can enjoy the giant Ginkgo trees, boxwood gardens, colossal Tulip Poplars, and Osage Orange trees he planted that are now thriving. Enjoy walks through the trees, fields and rolling hills and eat a handful of wild organic raspberries in season. We support BIPOC and all are welcome to enjoy our property :)

Just down the hill, a mere mile away from your private perch, is the historic town of Gordonsville with perhaps the best BBQ on the east coast, a brewery with terrific fried chicken, wine tasting room, a grocery store and much more. Within minutes are Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, James Madison’s Montpelier, and some of the nation’s finest vineyards, including Barboursville Vineyard and many others.

The Blue Ridge Mountains, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, the University of Virginia, and downtown Charlottesville are within 30 minutes. ATV trails are within an hours' drive. It’s just an hour to Richmond or Harrisonburg and less than two to Washington, DC, or 3 to Virginia Beach.

The cabin interior is a 14x12 space. With four windows and screens along with a 6’ wide sliding glass door with screen, you get plenty of views and breezes to boot. Even if the weather becomes unruly, you can stay dry and comfy and still enjoy the views and breezes.

The cabin interior is furnished with a comfy Queen-sized luxury mattress and box spring along with fresh linens and plenty of pillows perfect for lounging with a view. A bistro table and chairs are on the deck where you can enjoy cocktails or your meal along with the fabulous view.

A robust rechargeable fan is provided to help keep things cool during warmer months while a propane heater is installed during cooler months to help keep you toasty when it's chilly out. While there is no electric or running water, we do our best to make up for that with plenty of solar lights, lots of fresh water and a Shower House with a private Loo.

The Shower and Loo house offer you a dry and comfy place to do your business. There is a portable hospital potty chair with arms and a safe, secure and comfy seat. Special compostable bags that harden any waste are provided and you will toss those bags into the trash & take the trash with you when you go. We provide TP, hand soap, water, and hand sanitizer.

The Solar Shower, which is a 5-gallon portable bag, is heated by the sunshine. We are happy to refill it as needed. Towels are provided, too. Soon hot water will be available for the shower. We also provide two five-gallon containers of fresh spring water for drinking and washing hands.

Camping just wouldn't be complete without a campfire! Enjoy a campfire in the outdoor fire kettle where you can cook, make s'mores or just enjoy the ambiance. There is plenty of firewood available for a nominal charge on site via the honor system. $7.50 per milk crate. Newspaper and kindling are nearby.

We are very COVID-conscious! We comply with all COVID cleaning precautions which includes cleaning all linens and sanitizing all hard surfaces with spray & anti-bacterial wipes between guests. Hand sanitizer, soap & water, fresh linens & towels are provided at no additional cost. We do ask that you put all used linens into the hamper and used dishes into the red plastic bucket before departing and take your trash & recyclables with you.

We love dogs and know they're your family! Friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Prior to making your reservation, please email us and tell us about your dog’s describing their breed, size, temperament, owners ability to control dog, confirm that dog will be leashed and under your control at all times and that all vaccinations are up to date. There is a $25 pet fee per dog with a maximum of 2 dogs. Please see our Pet Policy for additional details.

In addition to providing fresh linens, towels & pillows and a bistro table with chairs, we provide several solar & battery powered lights; a very good fan, a 5 gallon jug of fresh spring water; trash containers; folding chairs and table; outside solar shower bag with water; outside dry storage area; hand sanitizer and toilet paper; cards and a few games; and an outside fire pit with grate & lighter.
