Ohiopyle State Park is in Dunbar, PA, about 1.5 hours away. You can rent bikes and go whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River. There are several restaurants, picnic areas and an ice cream shop. There are different whitewater trips you can take, depending on your skill level, with the Middle Yough being the most family-friendly but still very exciting.

Western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia have lots of bike trails to explore. Two local bike rental companies are the Tandem Connection in Canonsburg (724-745-2453) and Summit Bike Shop (304-564-4553) in New Cumberland, WV. Golden Triangle in Pittsburgh (412-600-0675) is another option. If you have your own bikes, Burgettstown has an entrance to the Panhandle Trail, a 29 mile trail that extends from Walkers Mill in Collier Township, PA to Colliers, WV.
