If you can't find it here you aren't gonna find it. Great people watching and it's a great hangout for a rainy day or for a weekend shopping experience.
Just across the street from Scottsdale Quarter is Kierland. Very similar to Scottsdale Quarter. The food is great and shopping is great. I tend to think Kierland is a bit more family friendly than Scottsdale Quarter. Kierland has a large splash pad for the kids and Shake Shack is located there which is good for kids.

If you're looking for a day trip that you'll never forgot go to Sedona. It's about a 2 hour drive north on I-17 and easy to get too. The views are spectacular, the hiking is great and there are Jeep tours that are fun too. Devil's Bridge is a popular spot to go hiking, but not for small kids. Make sure you make the drive up and down highway 89-A. People come from all over the world just to make that drive.

Fountain Hills is a town located just east of Scottsdale about 30 minutes. The point of interest is the Fountain that goes off every hour. It is known to be the highest reaching fountain in north america. The drive is pleasant and the views of Four Peaks is a nice touch.
