This is one of my two favorite neighbourhood cafes located a 15 minute walk from our home. It reminds me of one of those country cafes with beautiful decor, chilled vibes and tasty breakfasts and coffee. They even sell some local hand-made ceramics. They also have wifi for you to plan your day.

It reminds me of one of those country cafes with beautiful decor, chilled vibes and tasty breakfasts and coffee. They even sell some local hand-made ceramics. They also have wifi for you to plan your day.
Luigi's Restaurant is a 10 minute walk from our home and has the most delectable Italian menu and outdoor garden. A lovely little local neighbourhood restaurant that is a bit of a secret!

Cohen's is a chain of fquaint fromageries with locations in both Rechavia and Katamon neighbourhoods - both a stones throw from where we live. If you like local charm and luxurious wines, cheeses and other delicacies then it's definitely worth checking Cohen's deli out. Boasting checkered red and white tablecloths, cheeseboards that will make you feel like your in Paris and warming soups in winter, this is one of my favorite neighbourhood hangouts. This cafe is a 15 minute bus ride from our home or a casual 25 minute stroll. They are open from 7.30am - 8pm Sun - Thurs and from 7.30 - 3pm on Fridays.

24 Hizkiyahu HaMelech StCohen's is a chain of fquaint fromageries with locations in both Rechavia and Katamon neighbourhoods - both a stones throw from where we live. If you like local charm and luxurious wines, cheeses and other delicacies then it's definitely worth checking Cohen's deli out. Boasting checkered red and white tablecloths, cheeseboards that will make you feel like your in Paris and warming soups in winter, this is one of my favorite neighbourhood hangouts. The beautiful Jerusalem Botanical Gardens are a mere 15 minute walk from our home. The gardens have more than six thousand plant species, which were brought to Israel from all over the world.
The plants are displayed in six sections, North America, South Africa, Europe, Australia, Central Asia, Mediterranean, each designed to create a miniature landscape of the region of origin of the plants.
During the summer and holidays, the botanical gardens hosts festivals with workshops and activities. During the Winter they host special weekend activities for families. There is also a lovely cafe/restaurant overlooking a lake.

This gorgeous nature park with around 30 gazelle wandering around for your enjoyment and wonder is a mere 10 minute walk from our home! There are many walking trails with native trees and gardens, a beautiful lake and even a hide to hang out and bird watch! We love taking our guests over here on the Sabbath when many shops are closed around Jerusalem. It is a real green lung just minutes away. You can also get your excersize on here!!
Train Track Park (Hebrew: פארק המסילה, Park HaMesila) is a rail trail urban park in Jerusalem featuring 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) of walking and biking trails, the park follows the route of the original Jaffa–Jerusalem railway from the Jerusalem Railway Station near the German Colony to Teddy Stadium in Malha. The closest access point to the rail trail from our house is a 20 minute walk. From there we recommend that you walk to the First Station for a bite to eat.

Sightseeing
Sheltering in the valley below the Israel Museum, the Monastery of the Cross is less than half an hour walk from our house on a paved trail is one of Jerusalem’s lesser-known gems. The 1,000 year old monastery contains living quarters, a small shop and area for drinks, a small museum, and the church. While many of the frescos and artworks adorning the walls, pillars, and ceiling of the church have suffered the ravages of time, the church is well maintained and there remains much to admire. Admission is 15 shekels. After your visit there you can continue on the walking path to some nearby olive groves. thousand year old monastery
