Food Options

There are all kinds of amazing eating options in Nederland - below are a few of our favorites.
This place is our favorite spot in Ned - the food is amazing, the beer selection is impressive, and the setting (a little renovated house with a deck right beside the creek) is incredibly charming.

Just really good old fashioned BBQ. This is a little food truck, so don't expect a sit-down experience. However, do expect really amazing food.

Great Hikes

The number of hiking trails around the cabin really is an embarrassment of riches. We've compiled a few of our favorites here, but this list is by no means comprehensive. Whatever your hiking dreams, you're sure to be able to find a trail close to Nederland that will make them come true.
Brainard Lake itself is accessible via car (it's Federal land, so if you don't have a federal parks pass, you'll need to pay a $12 entry fee), but there is a trail beyond it that leads into the Indian Peaks wilderness that accesses several additional lakes and is at every turn breathtakingly beautiful.

Rainbow Lakes is an easy- to moderate- hike that threads past several beautiful little high mountain lakes along the stream that feeds them.

Don't let the unappealing name dissuade you - this little nature walk is tranquil and lovely. A great option for young kids or people who want to get outside, but aren't looking for a major hike.

There are about 10 different trails that start at the beginning of 4th of July Road. You can't go wrong with any of them, but our favorites are the Lost Lake trail and the Bob/Betty Lakes trail (warning, Bob/Betty is definitely a more strenuous hike - please make sure you're prepared before embarking on it).
