We highly recommend The Dandelion. It’s proceeds support a non-profit and the options are delicious. They have vegetarian options, such as a portobello burger and bean burger. Everything we have tried has been super good! It’s located on the corner of 5th and Church, within walking distance.

Flat Rock Wood Room is a local option for wood-fired pizza and bbq. It's about 6 minutes away toward Flat Rock. There is also a Brunch place out in Flat Rock called Honey and Salt that has great reviews.
While you're there, take a stroll around the Carl Sandburg house or go see a show at the Flat Rock Playhouse...plenty to do!

While you're there, take a stroll around the Carl Sandburg house or go see a show at the Flat Rock Playhouse...plenty to do!
Mike’s Pizza over on Spartanburg hwy has some of the best and most affordable pizza. We always get the margarita pizza and have more than enough to take home.

Blue Sky Cafe is a great option for wraps and burgers. I personally like getting the Black & Blue burger, sub veggie patty. They also have a little kid's corner where your children can play with Mr. Potato Head among other things while you eat. It's about 16 minutes away out in Fletcher but worth the drive.

In Downtown you can find several restaurants. Umi is a great spot for sushi, but some may find it to be a bit pricey. There are several sandwich shops, like Mike’s On Main, and breweries. Hot Dog World is also a local favorite, if you're craving hot dogs and French fries. We highly recommend!

In Downtown you can find several restaurants. Umi is a great spot for sushi, but some may find it to be a bit pricey. There are several sandwich shops, like Mike’s On Main, and breweries. Hot Dog World is also a local favorite, if you're craving hot dogs and French fries. We highly recommend!
The Season's restaurant is great and in a very beautiful location. It is a little bit on the pricey end but an excellent romantic option. When we go, we tend to go for the Sunday brunch buffet. We also take our children--so it's doable for families but I would say that it is more for couples :)

Just in case you were thinking about some great breakfast, we highly recommend Biscuit Head in Arden. It is very popular breakfast destination in Asheville, affordable, and about 22 minutes from the Condo.

It's a local business that offers pancakes, omelets, scrambles and more. It's a very interesting set-up as part of the building has been converted from a greenhouse to dining. It's about 9 minutes away.

Another option that is close by and unique would be HenDough Chicken & Doughnuts. It's about 4 minutes from the Condo. It's similar to Biscuit Head but it has homemade doughnuts...you decide which you're craving :)

We highly recommend Joey's Bagels. They sell an assortment of bagels and bagel sandwiches (many of which are now sold at local coffee houses). They also have coffee too! The owner used to teach at my school so if you would like to support a local business this is a great option!

This place has an outdoor dining area that is beautiful! We very much enjoyed the Seafood Chowder and all of the sandwiches were delicious. It's reasonably priced and will give you a great mountain town experience.

Hands On! boasts two sections in which kids can play, build, and create. The front part of the building has a little dinosaur dig exhibit and an art station. The back of the building has several interactive exhibits where kids can pretend that they are at the grocery store, ice cream shop, nursery, and stage all situated around a mountain exhibit in the middle which has a slide. Our kids love it so we highly recommend. The only downside is that they charge an entrance fee for adults.

Mills River Park has a great trail to walk and a stream with an easement for children located near the walking trail. My son loves to go "fishing" there with his net. There is also an enclosed area for dogs to play in and two jungle gyms.

Pisgah Forest would be an excellent location for the whole family! There are so many trails there and swimming spots too! If your children are a little older, you all could try Sliding Rock. It's located in Pisgah National Forest. Admission is $3 during hours and free after hours (though there won't be a lifeguard).

There are several restaurants that you can visit in downtown Chimney Rock. There is also a little lake that you can walk around and Lake Lure has a swimming area that is open in the summer.
Chimney Rock is a state park where families can choose to hike up or take an elevator to the top. If you have small children, I would strap them in something as the height made me nervous with mine but otherwise we highly recommend!
