Sightseeing

Norway's oldest stave church and one of Norway's few UNESCO list sites. I worked as a tourist guide here for eight years (during summer season), and can give you all information you would want about this beautiful site and how to get there.

I would warmly recommend to go to this Hotel for a lunch buffet experience (remember to book in advance!). Breathtaking view over Norwegian fjord landscape. Only 25 min by car from the apartment.

My kids, and other kids in my family, love this amusement park some hours drive from Bergen. Most suitable for kids up to 8-9 years.

I used to live in this beautiful little village along the Sognefjord. It provides great view over the Fjord, and has some small charming shops. Enjoy an Ice Cream while sitting on the Bay and watch the astonishing view!

Tradition & Culture

Traditional, modernized Norwegian Textile Industry, located in Ytre Arna. This village, as other villages in Western Norway, were constructed around the textile industry, and I think these buildings and villages are well worth seeing. By the way, this is the village where I grew up myself.

Fascinating village in great Fjord surroundings, a borough which is part of the Bergen municipality and there are buses going there from Bergen. This village, as several other villages, were built around the growth of the textile industry and water energy.

Exploring Western Norwegian Nature

Tips for daytrips or trips that require over night stays outside of Bergen, based on my own personal experience of how to access and enjoy Western Norwegian Nature without too much effort and preparation
The most Western point on the mainland of Norway. You can go for a shorth hike there, a few kilometers route. Childfriendly. About 1 hour with car from Bergen. Halfway you will cross the spectacular Nordhordaland-brigde (which is a partly floating bridge)

I recommend combining this with a trip to Sognefjord, alternatively also a visit to the Urnes Stave church
