An old cog railway ascends 2000 ft in less than a mile... the local fitness challenge. A must-do for any exercise enthusiast. Look online for the latest parking situation because it is always changing, but you should be able to catch the free shuttle if you can't find a paid spot

Mt Cutler is a pretty but relatively easy and quick 2 mile hike. The Columbine trail is more steep and challenging with several access points

Barr TrailThis is the trail that leads up to the top of Pikes Peak and can be accessed from Manitou Springs. Great trail for a short challenging hike as well. The parking situation is always changing and becoming more challenging, but there is a free shuttle to the parking lot of Barr Trail from downtown Manitou

This is probably the least surprising recommendation - just make sure to explore the miles and miles of trails that span the parameter of the park. Theres more than the concrete paths!

Take Pikes Peak highway ( toll required) to get to the top of Pikes Peak without hiking. Be prepared for a long trip down in case your brakes are hot at the checkpoint. Get a donut at the Summit House!

Manitou is the small 'hippy' mountain town at the base of Pikes Peak. Lots of local specialty shops selling everything from cactus to specialty vinegars. Also has a 'penny arcade' with lots of vintage machines. Try the local water from the spring fountains - people either love it or hate it.
