Lovely market on Saturday and a great place to go for historic stuff!
10 minute walk from flat.
Turn left out of gate and walk to end of Leven Terrace.
Cross over main road and keep walking until you see Lauriston Place on left. Walk up Lauriston Place to top and cross over main road.
Walk down right hand side of Premier Inn to West Port and turn right.
Grassmarket is at the bottom of West Port.
Look out for the Castle on your way!

Visit Princes street and you'll see this iconic monument. Climb to the top but beware, it's a tight squeeze at the top! Not for the faint hearted :)

It is artefacts like this – and glass jars filled with gangrenous fingers, cancerous lungs, dried and varnished hearts – that have made the museum, tucked behind the Royal College of Surgeons, a favourite of crime writers.
