Panola Mountain is the crown jewel of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. A 100-acre granite outcrop similar to Stone Mountain, but smaller and much more pristine, the area has been home to early settlers, immigrant rock cutters, freed slaves and even Trappist monks. Park visitors will see the outcrop and its rare ecosystem just as Native Americans did centuries ago. Ranger-led hikes teach about the rare plants and animals found in this habitat. See more at http://gastateparks.org/PanolaMountain.

Indian Springs State Park is one of the oldest state parks in the nation. For centuries, Creek Indians collected spring water here for its healing qualities, and during the 1800s, the area was a bustling resort town. Today, visitors can still sample the spring water flowing inside the stone Spring House built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. See more at gastateparks.org/IndianSprings.
