Wonderful French bistro right around the corner on King Street. Check the website for hours, as they’re only open four or five days a week. Sebastien Tavel is the owner and a chef – very nice and talented person.

Blackwall Hitch

There are a few seafood restaurants located down by the river in Old Town, and this is by far the best (much better than Chart House or Fish Market). Casual setting with excellent food and a really phenomenal open venue. Can take in the Potomac either walking around or even on the patio.

Hank's Oyster Bar

There are a few of these located throughout the DC area. In Old Town, there’s the Hank’s Oyster Bar on King Street and Hank’s Pasta in the Northeast quadrant of Old Town. The Oyster Bar is one of our favorite lunch spots – the shrimp and avocado salad is hard to beat. Hank’s is casual and often ranked among the best in the area.

The Oyster Bar is one of our favorite lunch spots – the shrimp and avocado salad is hard to beat. Hank’s is casual and often ranked among the best in the area.

This is now the best fine dining restaurant in Old Town – right around the corner from the house. There is refined seafood and meat dishes on the menu. It also has a superb wine menu and, in the bar area, you can order flights. Not going to go wrong here with any choice on the menu.

Best and closest coffee shop to the townhouse. If you're sleepy, the four shot espresso latte called the "Flatliner" is sure to wake you up. Jones Point Lighthouse

Jones Point Park is on the Potomac River, just south of Old Town Alexandria. It was a critical piece of the city of Alexandria's history as one of the largest centers for shipping, manufacturing, and transportation in the nation. It;s lighthouse, built in 1855, is the last remaining riverine lighthouse in Virginia. Very nice children's playground and plenty of walking, running and biking paths that connect north and south.

It was a critical piece of the city of Alexandria's history as one of the largest centers for shipping, manufacturing, and transportation in the nation. It;s lighthouse, built in 1855, is the last remaining riverine lighthouse in Virginia. Very nice children's playground and plenty of walking, running and biking paths that connect north and south.

Home of our first president, George Washington. Absolutely worth the quick and easy trip south along the George Washington Parkway. Great tours of the house, grounds and museum are regularly available, although would definitely try to plan as much in advance as possible. Check the Mount Vernon website, as there are frequent fun events on the weekends!
