Love this Poke place, a bit complicated when ordering but then will assist you. Some of the best raw sushi grade Poke you can get on the Westside.
One of the best places in LA and only walking distance away. You usually need a reservation and it can get a bit pricey but its on a really cool street in Venice.

Great local coffee shop just a few blocks south, you can walk down the beach toward the Venice pier in the morning and you can wander in, a local favorite.

An amazing romantic authentic Italian restaurant. Not for the family but if you want a terrific meal it is one of my favorites. I always order the Rib Eye with the Lobster Risotto.

A great breakfast place and one of the few places I would recommend to eat at on the boardwalk. It is about a 15 min walk north but you can sit and watch all of the people walking by and have an excellent breakfast. If you go between 8a-9a, entrees are half price.

I recommend bringing a lunch and sitting on one of the lawns or gardens and enjoying the view. Bay Cities Market in Santa Monica has a terrific array of sandwiches that are perfect for the visit. Museum is free; however, they do charge for parking.

3rd street promenade

large outdoor shopping mall a block from the bluffs in Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Pier. They also have free 2 hour parking garages. Plenty of pubs and restaurants as well.
This Ralphs is a bit closer to the apartment, standard grocery store.

Just a short walk from the apartment, these are how Abbott Kinney, the founder of Venice built all of Venice after a trip to Italy 100 years ago. There are only a few of the canals left but a must see in the neighborhood for the family.
