During the summer holiday season, unless you have an official pass or a 2-wheel vehicle, it's a 45 minute walk to the beach--well worth it! There are 3 trails from the top of the road (le col), 1 steeper than the others, and shorter. (It's best not to leave your car in the entrance parking lot later than 19h30.) (Location of place tag on Google Map is misleading; disregard.)

The location and museum grounds are beautiful and worth the walk from the Vieux Port, even if the quality of museum exhibits is somewhat inconsistent.
