This is a tiny, simple but elegant restaurant serving whatever the fresh fish of the day is battered with chips. A very nice wine menu to go along with it. You sit on high stools at the small bar counter or against a counter running along the wall. This is a two minute walk from the apartment, very popular with locals and right next to two of the best bars in Dublin - Frank Ryans and the Dice bar.

This is a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment. Located in the local, trendy neighbourhood of Stoneybatter, it is a popular bar with locals with a restaurant area out the back. Food is locally sourced and made with love! Good quality, good value and very tasty. They also provide whiskey recommendations to accompany the food but have a full bar and wine menu otherwise. Personal favourites include Irish black pudding with rhubarb coolie for starters and the Hake or Chicken Kiev for mains - but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

L. Mulligan Grocer
18 StoneybatterThis is a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment. Located in the local, trendy neighbourhood of Stoneybatter, it is a popular bar with locals with a restaurant area out the back. Food is locally sourced and made with love! Good quality, good value and very tasty. They also provide whiskey recommendations to accompany the food but have a full bar and wine menu otherwise. Sophie's is about half an hour walk from the apartment but very close to tourist attractions such as St. Stephen's Green. It is on the fifth floor of the trendy Dean Hotel. It serves food and drinks all day but I particularly love it for brunch. Dublin is a low rise city and as you walk into Sophie's you get a unique 270 degree view of the city. Staff are very friendly and there are good photo ops at the top of the lifts where there are swings hung from the ceiling!!

Staff are very friendly and there are good photo ops at the top of the lifts where there are swings hung from the ceiling!!

Wide range of fresh, locally sourced ingredients with Middle-Eastern influence. Particularly good for vegetarian food although they cater to meet eaters too.

Good place to sample Irish food - try the local mussels or beef and Guinness stew. Also the perfect place to try a pint of Guinness or sample an Irish whiskey. There is often live Irish music and there is an outdoor area for sunny days or open fires in the winter.

Largest city park in Dublin, hosts Dublin zoo and the President's residency. Also home to wild deer. Lovely spot for a walk, cycle or picnic. Bikes for hire at the entrance and a couple of lovely cafes within the park.

The grounds of the old Kilmainham military hospital are beautifully kept - the courtyard area and the formal gardens are very peaceful to walk around. It also hosts the Irish Museum of Modern Art which I highly recommend. Only 10-15 minutes walk from the apartment, beside Kilmainham Gaol, another popular sight-seeing location. Please note this is the opposite direction from the centre of town.

Beautiful cliff walk along the south Dublin coastline. A short trip on the Dart (city train) to Bray, a lovely seaside town and a 1.5 hour walk to Greystones, another lovely seaside spot. Get the Dart back into town from Greystones - but not before trying some local seafood!

Beautiful cliff walk along the south Dublin coastline. A short trip on the Dart (city train) to Bray, a lovely seaside town and a 1.5 hour walk to Greystones, another lovely seaside spot. Get the Dart back into town from Greystones - but not before trying some local seafood!

Trinity College is a must-see in Dublin. It is at the heart of the city, about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. The grounds are beautiful to walk through. It also hosts the famous Book of Kells. If you have time it is well worth a visit - the book is nice to see but really it's the access it provides to the Long Room, a very old and beautiful library - you will feel like you have stepped back in time.

College GreenTrinity College is a must-see in Dublin. It is at the heart of the city, about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. The grounds are beautiful to walk through. It also hosts the famous Book of Kells. If you have time it is well worth a visit - the book is nice to see but really it's the access it provides to the Long Room, a very old and beautiful library - you will feel like you have stepped back in time.
The famous Guinness Storehouse! Really engaging, interactive tour. You get the chance to pull your own Guinness - we are very particular about the technique in Ireland ;) At the end of the tour you get to sample a pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar with the best 360 degree view of the city.

A little off the beaten track but only a ten minute walk from the apartment. Teelings is a more modern (and hipster!) alternative to Jameson's. They offer whiskey tastings, distillery tour and there's a nice café if you just want to get some lunch.
