It's about 1 hour 15 min from the house to the Sonora Pass. When the road is open, enjoy the beautiful drive, and stop at some vista stops on the way. Park at the Pass, then go for a hike starting at 9,600 feet Beautiful vistas, great alpine hiking, you can find patches of snow well into August. It's an easy hike and well marked trail, but be prepared with the right clothing, gear, water, food for a mountain hike at 10K feet. Stop at the Dardanelles resort on your way up or back for refreshments.

This is a hidden gem. It'll take about an hour to get there, but it is so worth the drive. Bring a kayak or boat if you have one. Fantastic swimming in an alpine lake in the summer. It's a beautiful drive, find the start of the road in Tuolomne.

There is a nice, easy 10 mile out-and-back hike or mountain biking trail on the Sugar Pine railroad grade dirt road. From Twain Harte, look for the start of the trail on the east side of Confidence South Fork Road just north of the intersection with Middle Camp Sugar Pine Road. The sign on the gate says Private Property, but it's open for access to hikers and bikers. Bring Fido, too!

We love this place and have been members since our first trip through Gold Country. Great wines, and a completely irreverent attitude, with rubber chickens displayed proudly throughout. They have regular music nights in the summer, well worth the drive. 45 min from the house.
