With a strong focus on seafood and tapas Thunderbird's menu is fresh and regional and as a consequence is regularly updated to pair creatively with seasonal produce. Meals are designed to be shared with a selection of bar food, tapas style share plates and substantial main meals. The dessert and cheese menus offer a delightful finish to the dinner, lunch or even double as a meal in their own right with locally made cakes and a selection of cheeses from Alexandrina and the Adelaide Hills. The thoughtfully designed breakfast menu offers contemporary favourites with a signature twist. The bar menu features a curated selection of local wines highlighting little-known regions and quality boutique producers from Mt Jagged, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. International wines add further depth to this selection with imported varieties from France and Italy. The bar menu is finished off with a generous selection of craft beer, spirits and signature cocktails. Built alongside the quaint and heritage listed old Port Elliot post office, now a gallery housing the works of talented regional artists, Thunderbird has a sophisticated edge. The polished concrete floors, combination of reclaimed red brick and natural timbers and quality design attributes, present a chic ambience and characterise the bespoke charm of Port Elliot.

The Flying Fish is situated on the idyllic beach front at Horseshoe Bay, Port Elliot. The café and restaurant is named after an old two masted schooner which was wrecked in the bay in 1860 – one of a number of ships to meet this fate while Horseshoe Bay operated as a seaport in that period. An iconic beachside eatery providing dining experiences ranging from early morning coffees while walking on the beach, to relaxing on the open air deck with our famous fish and chips served in a cone, to smart restaurant dining featuring the best South Australian and Fleurieu based produce.

Over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves, home to native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species. In the west, Flinders Chase National Park is known for penguin colonies and striking coastal rock formations, like the sculpted Remarkable Rocks and the stalactite-covered Admirals Arch. Take your car on the Sealink Ferry or travel with KI Connect As you step off onto the island, it's impossible not to relax. Kangaroo Island is known as nature’s playground. Hit the road and you’ll find out why. Wildlife abounds as friendly pubs, accommodation and restaurants give-way to towering cliffs, wild plains and impeccably clear waters. Follow the road less travelled and discover unique wildlife, mouth-watering food and wine, breathtaking scenery and a laid-back lifestyle.

The Goolwa Barrages comprise five barrage structures in the channels separating Lake Alexandrina from the sea at the mouth of the River Murray and the Coorong in Australia. They were constructed in order to firstly reduce salinity levels in the lower reaches of the River Murray, Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert and secondly to stabilise the river level, for both upstream irrigation and pumping.

There is something for all ages and interests in the Coorong. The serenity, the sheer diversity, and the proximity to Adelaide make it an immensely popular park. Visitors come for bird watching, boating, kayaking, fishing, camping, walking, four-wheel driving and European and cultural history. The Coorong is also a wetland of international importance, supporting many significant and endangered flora and fauna. Both Encounter and Upper South East Marine Parks border Coorong National Park.
