Holiday guests Barbara and Richard recommended this. 1 hr 22 min (48.4 mi) from the flat, via the A356. They were long-stay guests - Paul's tip: It's worth taking this longer trip to catch the Studland Ferry and get out to Brownsea Island - the only place in the South where you'll see red squirrels. If not, maybe next time?

This is the best theatre in the West Country - and it's just up the road...
It's run by a small, dedicated team of enthusiasts. It attracts the biggest names in the world. But you'll also find gems like the annual Yeovil Literary Festival. It's new sister venue, Westlands, is also pretty good. Along with the small Swan (no relation) this means that this relatively small market town enjoys no less than three theatres and they are worth supporting.

And during your stay you must book an event at Bridport Arts Centre, originally a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and School House, built in 1838.
