Here's a handy list my workmate came up with, but we agree with completely
●Lunch/Dinner: Bar Wa Izakaya in North Hobart is a new Japanese restaurant and bar. The food is excellent, they have wide range of japanese beer, whiskey and saki, do good cocktails. Half price oysters every day between 4pm - 6pm

Born in Brunswick in North Hobart is an Instagrammer's paradise in terms of their beautifully constructed meals and Jardan-esque fit out. It's a little more experimental and straddles the line between breakfast and lunch in a more serious way than what us Australians have come to know as brunch. If you're not feeling adventurous, they do great scrambled eggs and bacon.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner: Room for a Pony in North Hobart and Pigeon Hole in West Hobart/Hobart are longtime favourites. The pizza here is excellent.

Breakfast/Lunch: Machine in Salamanca and Criterion Street right in the CBD are owned by the same people as Room for a Pony and have been around for a long time. Always busy and they have fairly substantial menus.

Bars/Pubs: Rude Boy in mid-town (like a block from the mall) is a Cuban-themed bar that serves up lots of rum and has bird noises in the toilets. It's fun and has a younger crowd.

Bars/Pubs: The Winston is a fairly hipster American-style dive-bar / Aussie pub in North Hobart (very close!) which does excellent wings and burgers. Huge beer range. Super casual but always really fun.

Bar/Pub: Tom McHugo's is a bit of a gastro pub. Definitely old school Hobart pub vibes. Cheap Parmis and steaks that are good quality. Good beer and wine range. Open for lunch and dinner.

Bar/Pub: Fondru's, owned by the Room for a Pony guys, is a tiny cheese and wine bar. It's just off the North Hobart strip. Room for a Pony is good for a drink too; they've got a decent outdoor area.

Restaurant: Templo in North Hobart/Hobart is a teeny tiny little restaurant that seats around twenty people – quite communal – and the food is excellent. Modern Australian / Italian. The chef's menu is around $65 and is definitely worth it - as is the paired wines option. One of our faves.

Restuarant: Ettie's is a lovely old building in Hobart with a nice, sunny courtyard, dining room and bar. It's sort of modern Australian with a fair bit of French influence. They do a really well-priced prix fixe lunch menu, too. You can also take away wine. (Same owners as Willing Bros.)

Restaurant: Fico is another Italian restaurant in Hobart – a bit fancier than Templo. They do some great pastas and a few experimental dishes which can be hit and miss. The atmosphere is nice on a busy Friday or Saturday night.
