Swimming Spots

One of the closest sandy beaches, Rinella Bay is a just a short walk away (approx. 15-20 mins) in neighbouring Kalkara. If you fancy something different, you could rent a Next Bike from Birgu Waterfront and ride there (warning: there are hills).

One of our main go to's in the summer is St. Thomas Bay in Marsaskala. It's sandy, reasonably quiet and there are a few restaurants nearby including Zion Reggae Bar (http://zionmalta.com/) which is a great place to grab a drink and chill. Al Legna Pizzeria is also close (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g227896-d9809647-Reviews-Al_Legna_Pizzeria-Marsascala_Island_of_Malta.html) and serves some tasty pizza. It's also a little closer than going to the North of the Island.

One of our main go to's in the summer is St. Thomas Bay in Marsaskala. Takes place every Tuesday from 7am until 12pm. If you need to buy supplies whilst you're in Birgu, the Farmers Market is a great place to buy local vegetables and fruit. They also sell a variety of Maltese speciality products like cheese, olives, local bread, honey and bigilla (a Maltese bean dish) - they even sell clothes, household items and occasionally fish, snails and other meats.
