Sightseeing

There are several entry points near my house, all with parking lots. Most straightforward (0.8 mi) is to head back up to the Sunoco on Monongahela, turn L, follow that until it Ts, turn R then immediately L (still Monongahela), L on Braddock and look for the "Class" sign on a building by the highway ramp. Second option (1.1 mi) is to cut through the alley mid block across from my house, turn R on Schley, L onto angled Lafayette, L up Church, R on Commercial, follow until you see Frick on your L. Third option is for the adventurous (0.4 mi) : follow the previous directions but soon after turning onto Church, turn L into Les Getz baseball field. Follow the park road down just to where it turns into gravel then look for a singletrack trail entrance on your R. This is a technically challenging mountain bike course, so expect lots of ups and downs and try not to get lost :)

Food scene

I love how it escaped the limiting zoning laws too common in the US but instead is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood. The food is good, too, and they offer fresh-pressed juices for brunch.

Tasty and quick Thai food, with outdoor tables as well. In the same block, there is also El Burro, Istanbul Grille, 61B Cafe, Frick Park Tavern, and a few other places, all with outdoor sidewalk seating and always popular.

Shopping

Pittsburgh's best (and maybe only) locally-owned outdoor store has great variety, some local offerings, and a second-hand gear section in the back.
