Now famous craft cocktail bar. Incredible and original cocktails that take a while to make. Not for those who are in a hurry or who like vodka. They won't serve it- against their philosophy. Don't ask me, I just live here...

Katz's never closes... its their motto. As good a deli place as Houston has to offer- which is pretty good considering we're deep in Texas. Their other dishes are pretty good too though. Late night has a very interesting and typically friendly crowd being in the heart of Montrose.

The now famous Pit Room has amazing BBQ. Not as good as my marinated brisket but noone is there yet lol. What's even better is you can take your food next door and watch a game or listen to the Juke at the Patio with a cold one.

Mesquite grilled goodness. I like the Mesquite grilled Shrimp enchiladas. Great guac as well. And like all Pappas restaurants their garlic butter sauce is decadent and irresistible.

Although it isn't that fast and it isn't that cheap- Becks Prime is the best food you could ever have that someone might call Fast Food. The Mesquite Grill may have something to do with that!

City/town information

Here are some facts about Houston that inform our identity: Our population is one of the most diverse of major American cities. We have huge Vietnamese, South Asian, Mexican, Colombian and African populations. And in general we are a unified city that comes together during both good times and bad. Whether due to not being a tourist town or the high number of Doctors, Engineers and Geologists; Houstonians place high value on substance, reason and integrity. Houstonians are proud of their Texan culture. Our citizens of all backgrounds throw on boots, cowboy hats and denim for the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo. Houstonians are proud of their food: BBQ, TexMex, Gulf seafood and Cajun are high points. We are known for hot and humid summers but the truth is that our climate is usually mild and comfortable for 9 months of the year. Houstonians, like Texans in general, value freedom but also law and order. You'll feel safer here than most American cities because you are safer here than most cities.

This fairly recent addition to the Museum of Natural Science is awesome. Want to really learn about fracking and drilling science? Want to see cool special effects showing an ideal energy mix display? This is the spot. It was beyond expectations.

Many of the streets that surround Rice University and throughout Montrose and the Museum District are populated by gorgeous old growth Oak trees that form thick canopies that stretch over the streets. Its unique to Houston and serves as backdrops to countless Quinceaneras and wedding photos...

The main building of the Menil is still the best, although they are steadily expanding with their endless endowment inherited from heirs to the Schlumberger fortune. Don't miss this museum and park complex- hippies playing hacky sack and all. Do rent a bike and explore the area including St. Thomas campus and Rothko chapel (of course).

This stretch of jogging/ biking trail has become a phenomenon increasing in popularity as its additions draw in more and more sight seers each year. You can park and walk the paths, see the bats at sunset under Waugh bridge and enjoy one of Houston's sunsets from a bridge spanning the Bayou- you won't regret it.
