Bent's Camp is my personal favorite for a Friday night fish fry in this area. Be warned, the wait times during the summer can get lengthy if you don't go early! Granted, they have picnic tables outside so you can grab a drink and enjoy the view of the lake from the shore.

Hillside is the annual family argument for best fish fry! Lol! Their food is also top notch and they also have tables outside to help with the potential wait times. They are also located on a lake with a great view and have a volleyball net if you'd like to bring a ball and play to pass the time.

Brew's Pub has been updated over the past few years and used to be the Rusty Nail. Great ownership, pool table, dart board, foosball, and great bar food are the reasons to visit. Packers and Brewers memorabilia line these walls.

Club 45 is my favorite bar up here! If you're coming from Illinois, you've found your Cubs/Bears bar in the middle of Brewers/Packers country. They also have phenomenal pizza, including Chicago Style deep dish! Pool table, darts and a great back deck/patio with a lake view are the cherries on top.

This place (formerly known as the Redman) has been a family favorite for decades. It is currently under new ownership, we just ordered takeout (covid-conscious) and were very happy with our dishes!! Try the Fungo as an appetizer!! Delish!!

Sightseeing
Bond Falls is a gorgeous waterfall located approximately 20 minutes north of the cabin. You have the option to hike down alongside it to the viewing area or just park at the bottom and skip the hike, though I highly recommend the hike! The new boardwalk is very nice and it is a fantastic spot for pictures. One of our family members got engaged there recently! It is quite beautiful!

Located at the entrance of our road, this company provides rentals for snowmobiles, atvs and more. You can't get any more convenient as the trail entrances are along our road!

The Paulding Light still remains a mystery to this day, though many have tried to take a shot at explaining this "ghost light." Just past the Northern Waters Casino by a few minutes, take a left hand turn (if heading north) down this dirt road and join the onlookers after dark. Be patient, and keep your focus along the top right hand side of the tree line in the distance. I've seen it many times, even tried to chase it to no avail once. Be careful doing that, though, as I might have been chased away by local law enforcement!! (oops!)

The Paulding Light
The Paulding Light still remains a mystery to this day, though many have tried to take a shot at explaining this "ghost light." Just past the Northern Waters Casino by a few minutes, take a left hand turn (if heading north) down this dirt road and join the onlookers after dark. Be patient, and keep your focus along the top right hand side of the tree line in the distance. I've seen it many times, even tried to chase it to no avail once. Be careful doing that, though, as I might have been chased away by local law enforcement!! (oops!)
Fun Fact: All of the other Great Lakes can fit inside Lake Superior!! Approximately an hour's drive north, Lake Superior is a sight to be seen. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the view from the beach. You would swear it's an ocean if you've never seen it.

A hop skip and a jump from Lake Superior, Lake of the Clouds is another beautiful spot to pack a lunch and take the family to for some gorgeous sightseeing, approximately an hour and twenty minutes from the cabin.

It is very clean, the owner (Erin) is very welcoming and it also has an incredible massage therapist (Alicia) on site to book! I can personally say she is very attentive and a great therapist!

Regardless, they have slots, live table as well as virtual blackjack, automated craps, a newly expanded bar with a pool table and stage for live music on the weekends. May the odds be ever in your favor!
Also under newer ownership, what was once a dark and dingey bar with crappy bowling lanes is now a revamped, well-lit bar with upgraded lanes in back. It's not very big or loud, unless they have the occasional live music on the weekends! Also, if you're ever up here for new year's eve, ask about the lighting of the Christmas tree. 😉

Located in Eagle River, Vilas Cinema is the smallest movie theater I've ever been in. It is quaint, cozy and comfortable with only 4 or 5 movies showing at any given time, but a fun experience, especially if you're used to huge AMC's!

Check out the new ice skating rink in Lando! I've never personally been there but word on the street says there's ice and you can skate on it! lol (Open during the winter months.)

Golf
Gateway Golf Course is the closest to the cabin at 5 minutes away. This 9 hole course straddles the state line of WI/MI, with the first 4 holes in Michigan and the last 5 holes in Wisconsin. Pretty cool and a fun challenge, although the conditions aren't always the best, to be honest.

Downhill Skiing
Indianhead is my personal favorite place to take the family for a day of skiing during the winter months. Plenty of runs of all difficulty levels and within about an hour's drive.
