The absolute most authentic Italian food on the east coast. The owner is from Italy and cooks every meal with only imported goods. A must do! If there will be more than 4 people, call ahead of time and let the sweet staff know—it’s a very intimate and cozy hole in the wall.

Right across from the water with beachfront views. Great margaritas and service and the food is pretty good. Bonus tip: eat lunch and keep your receipt so you can use the parking lot and walk across the street to the uncrowded beach. Then take your receipt over to the Green Turtle shop next door and get a free gift. Great owners and staff at both!

Oysters from around the world brought in every single day, raw bar and excellent steaks. Right on St Armands so there’s great shopping and walking too!

Siesta Beach 411
If you’re going to Siesta Key Beach, go EARLY or just Uber. Parking is usually a nightmare, so plan ahead. It’s about $15-20 to Uber depending on time of day; parking at the beach is free but is completely full by 9am. they have floaties, chairs, umbrellas, etc for sale at the beach as well as a grill for food and snacks at the main entrance. PS—if you have littles, bring sandals and/or put them in the wagon, the sand on the entrance to that beach is HOT and will burn little feet on the .5mile walk to the water (yep, you read that right).

SCAT, Uber and Biking
If traveling around the beaches or downtown, you have the option of taking the SCAT trolley or bus. Uber and Lyft are everywhere though they get busy on weekends around the beach. If you’re bringing bikes, load them in the car and you’ll be able to find the best beaches because there is often no parking areas near them! Drive to Anna Maria or Bradenton Beach, park on the street and bike to the quiet and uncrowded beaches along the keys, stopping for ice cream!

Secret to Anna Maria Island
Look for the golf carts that offer a ‘free shuttle from parking’. They will get you a parking spot and then give you a ride to wherever you’re going for free—just make sure to tip them, that’s how they make a living. They’re owned by local guys, usually retirees and they have golf carts that can seat 10, just ask!
