A not so far away and lovely island is “Grinda”, it is a car free island with lots of forest. You can walk across the island in about 30 min, it got a nice little beach, some animals, a kiosk with crazy golf, and it also has a nice restaurant by the waterside as well as a small hotel with a restaurant.

Sandhamn is a great summer island, full of life, boats, after beach open gigs at the hotel, lovely beaches and a lush Birch tree forest in the middle of the island. It got classic Swedish summer cottages and some nice restaurants and cafes too. Sandhamn is a recommended island, just a 30 min boat trip from Stavsnäs, which is a 30 min drive from our cabin.

Sandhamn
Sandhamn is a great summer island, full of life, boats, after beach open gigs at the hotel, lovely beaches and a lush Birch tree forest in the middle of the island. It got classic Swedish summer cottages and some nice restaurants and cafes too. Sandhamn is a recommended island, just a 30 min boat trip from Stavsnäs, which is a 30 min drive from our cabin.
On Värmdö you have Artipelag, which is a restaurant and art museum with a nice boardwalk along the water.

There are plenty of lovely trails in the nature reserve and by Velamsund. If you follow the road running behind the cabin to the right for an out 1km you will come Velamsund, with a small sandy beach and a playground. In the summer, there is a small café by the beach. There are facilities in a big red house by the beach and places to BBQ. By Insjön there is a small piece of land separating the Baltic sea on the one side and the lake on the other. By the sea is a small harbor for boats and a restaurant called “Långa raden” open mainly in the summers.

In Gustavsbergs hamn there are several restaurants, a café, little shops (mainly porcelain, such as Iittala and Orrefors) and a supermarket as well as a pharmacy. You can either walk there (4km) on a nice walk path along the road, overlooking the water in parts or take bus 422 towards Gustavsberg, get off at “Höjdhagen” and walk to the harbor from there, or by car, there is free parking by “Hemköp” and by the Iittala store.
