The church is right next to the house. The construction of the church of San Martino dates back to the Norman period and from this period it retains a large part of the structure. The architecture of the apse and the columns that surround it would date around the sixth century AD, however other components such as the rose window and the entrance portal date back to 1300 - 1400, which seems to be the result of various restorations. The church, however, is defined as early Christian and included among the oldest ecclesiastical buildings of Syracuse since some of its elements refer to the Byzantine period crossed by the city and recall the pagan temples still existing in the 5th - 6th century AD. The first official attestation of this church is in January 1389 when the bishop of the archdiocese of Syracuse, Tommaso de Herbes, appoints it in his diocesan synod. During the earthquake of 1693 the church suffered various damages, above all of a static nature.

Castello Maniace was built by the will of Federico II, between 1232 and 1240. The square-plan building is closed by a mighty perimeter wall with four cylindrical towers at the corners. The name dates back to the Byzantine general Giorgio Maniace, who reconquered the city from the Arabs in 1038.

A two minute walk from home. The Fonte Aretusa is a body of water on the island of Ortigia, in the oldest part of the Sicilian city of Syracuse. Its origin is the development of one of the many outlets of the water table located in the Syracusan area, the aquifer that also feeds the Ciane river on the opposite side of the port. It has a double circular shape, with a circular structure inside, that is a double concentric circle.

Very close to home. Considered the most important church in the city of Syracuse, it became part of the heritage protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Its style is mainly Baroque and Rococo on the outside, while inside it alternates parts dating back to the Siceliot era, as belonging to the Greek temple, and parts dating back to the Middle Ages, built by the Normans and thus left up to the present day. Its internal structure is composed of several naves and chapels, which have a classic and decorated style, also typical of the Baroque.

Born essentially as a puppet theater, it immediately showed its vocation towards the different dramatic arts. The Alfeo Theater maintains its marionette vocation firmly but has expanded its offer by becoming a stage open to citizens, to a varied, curious and loyal public, looking for entertainment that is at the same time a vehicle for culture, memory and fun. Located on Via della Giudecca just steps away from Piazza del Duomo is one of the precious pieces of aretusean urban mosaic, a place of art and culture that enriches the city à . Quality and Welcome In order to give to a restaurant the explicit name "La Terrazza sul Mare" (The Terrace on the Sea), nothing else needs to be made up: in fact, a quick look to the pictures is enough to understand the atmosphere of the place. Furthermore, there is the welcome, that in Sicily is almost a religion: the chef and his staff will take care of everything, making you live enjoyable moments strengthened by a cuisine of other times, in a seducing frame of ineffable beauty. We find ourselves in Ortigia, a small little island linked to Syracuse and directly reachable by car; Here we can admire intense sunsets characterised by the Mediterranean colours and bright lights that flood the diversities of the sea, all of that observing the Penisola della Maddalena in the distance.
