$$$$ One of our favorite restaurants to relax and have excellent food. They have nightly specials that are always interesting and a fantastic wine list. Chef Warren and his wife have created a gem of a place to go in Southern Pines. It is only about 15 minutes from the Condo. Reservations are suggested.

Golf Courses

Tobacco Road Golf Club was built on land tended by the weather-worn hands of tobacco farmers, later shaped and moved through mining and sand excavation before finally being crafted and molded by an artist’s imagination and the revolutionary eye of the late Mike Strantz. When Tobacco Road was little more than a walking path through an expended sand quarry, Strantz said he “knew immediately it could be something not only spectacular, but also unique.”

A rarity among Donald Ross masterpieces, Mid Pines Golf Course remains exactly as the world renowned architect built it in 1921 and impeccably restored by Kyle Franz in 2013. The renovation was honored with GOLF Magazine’s Best U.S. Resort Renovation and Restoration of the Year. The course, often characterized as “pure Donald Ross,” was designed to fit perfectly into the natural landscape, as was Ross’s signature approach. Mid Pines was not intended to be a daunting challenge for the finest players competing under championship conditions, but was envisioned as a course that would offer friendly competition for members and guests of a private club and resort. However, fanatics and pros have taken note of the perfectly preserved course and Mid Pines has become a classic gem, which has now played host to many national competitions including the 2002 USGA

The majestic pines that line our courses whisper the legends of golfers like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart and all the legends who have walked these fairways. COURSE 2 The Centerpiece of Pinehurst Resort It has served as the site of more single golf championships than any course in America and hosted back-to-back U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships for the first time in 2014. As the first U.S. Open Anchor Site, the championship will return to Pinehurst in 2024, 2029, 2035, 2041 and 2047. COURSE 4 The Perfect Complement to No. 2 Gil Hanse’s redesign of Pinehurst No. 4 is a bold expression of pure, timeless Carolinas Sandhills golf. Visually stunning from tee to green, exposed sand areas, vast cross bunkers and native wire grass meld with the site’s rolling topography and natural ridge lines to create dramatic vistas and strategic options on every hole. Less than a year after reopening in 2018, No. 4 joined famed No. 2 as the site of the 2019 U.S. Amateur. COURSE 8 This is our favorite course! The Centennial Opened in 1996 to commemorate Pinehurst’s centennial, Tom Fazio designed No. 8, synthesizing all the elements of the Pinehurst golf experience into one layout. Fazio took full advantage of the 420 acres of rolling terrain and natural wetlands to fashion a course that’s visually enthralling and challenging yet fun to play. THE CRADDLE!! “Golf should be a pleasure, not a penance.” The quote above comes from Donald Ross, and nowhere does it fit better than The Cradle. More than 120 years after golf arrived here, The Cradle, designed by golf architect Gil Hanse, is a nine-hole short course that even the newest to the game can enjoy. Golf Channel calls The Cradle “the most fun 10 acres in all of golf.” Mere steps from the Resort Clubhouse, it is the same area where, in 1898, Dr. Leroy Culver carved our first nine holes out of the sand. Over the next century, Pinehurst came to be referred to as the Cradle of American Golf. Greens fees for The Cradle are $50 and replay rounds are based on availability. Kids 17 and under play free when accompanied by a paying adult (2 kids to every 1 paying adult), and resort guests may book tee times in advance. TEE TIMES CAN BE MADE BY CALLING 1-800-ITS-GOLF.
