This is the closest station to our house. You can catch a bus or taxi from here to the house. Exit the gates for the Shinkansen and turn right for the bus (to Yagisawa bus stop) or go left for a taxi.

Like Naeba, The Tashiro Station Gondola (at Kagura) connects at the top to the Kagura Mitsumata Gondola. Tashiro is more family friendly in terms of nice easy rolling mountains.

This is kinda like Home Depot. They have great winter boots and gloves (not ski stuff however). It is next to the Grocery store and about a 15-20 minute walk down the hill.

Walking distance! Awesome food cooked by my neighbors! Try Ramen (noodle soup) or Shoga-Yaki (ginger pork). The organic cafe has good vegetarian food / desserts! I love the pita sando! Closes at 6PM

This is a serious artisan bakery. Hand kneeded sourdough that is crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. You won't be disappointed! You must get their early, however, as they sell out quick! Check them out on Facebook too!

Awesome traditional Japanese deep fried pork cutlet restaurant (aka tonkatsu restaurant). So good! Get the roast katsu (if you want less fat go for the "hee-ray” (hire) katsu, but I recommend the "roast katsu.") Huge portions and great quality mean big lines during busy times.
