Featured in Tripadvisors’ Best places to Visit 2022, Belbroughton is within walking distance and is a quintessentially picturesque English Village. Historic Belbroughton was at the core of the Worcestershire Scythe-making district. Characterised by pretty architecture, lovely country walks, great pubs/restaurants, a quaint deli, working mens club, cricket grounds and your nearest local shop (that serves all essentials). The famous Scarecrow Weekend occurs each September; a quirky Black Country Festival that attracts over 30,000 people. Fabulous scarecrows are created by villagers and adorn the village alongside stalls and festivities; all to raise funds for local good causes (On 17th and 18th September 2022)

Stourbridge is our closest town, approximately 4 miles away. It’s also where our quirky giftware and interiors shop is (in The Crown Centre next to Tesco). If you’re after something a little bit different, or just fancy a mooch, we’d be delighted to see you! And will give you 10% off anything 😀 Stourbridge is a market town that historically was the centre of glass making in the Industrial Revolution. The Red House Cone, thought to be the only one left kind, stands on the canal at Wordsley. It is the site of The Red House Glass Museum. Worth a visit. The High Street is comprised of independent and a couple of chain shops, cafes, restaurants and a few great charity shops. “Secret Love” and the independents on market street also worth a mooch for vintage best of its kind

Approximately 19 miles away is lovely Bridgnorth Town. Can reach by car, but a fab alternative is to catch a heritage steam train from the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster town (a 20 minute drive from us). Pretty Bridgnorth (named after a bridge over the River Severn), is home to a funicular railway that links the High and Low towns. The Castle Hill Railway is the steepest and only inland railway of its type in England. As well as eclectic architecture, there is an abundance of independent shops, (visit Ian and his gorgeous sidekick, Walter the pooch in Wild Heart, one of our favourites), restaurants and charity shops. A great day out

Birmingham and Worcester by Car, Bus or train (from Hagley)

Birmingham city centre is 12.6 miles away, and more rural, Worcester City is about 20 miles away. Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK and definitely worth a visit! After the recent hosting of the Commonwealth Games, it is really looking it’s best after huge regeneration and development. Considered to be the social, cultural, financial and commercial centre of the Midlands. The Bullring Shopping Centre, the new Library of Birmingham (the largest public library in Europe!), The Mailbox, Brindley Place, St Paul’s Cathedral, The International Convention Centre….all worth experiencing.
