Explore over 1000 acres of ancient forest. Follow the "wooden walks" which are wood slat pathways so your shoes/boots will not get muddy. There is a beautiful lake where you can hire out a rowing boat. Then head for refreshments next to the lake with either your own picnic or eat at the open air cafe. A fantastic day out for walkers, couples or all the family.

Bishop's Stortford is our nearest town where there are many shops (both big retailers and the more individual) and restaurants to browse around. You can take a train from Bishop's Stortford station to either London (45 minutes) or Cambridge (30 minutes).

Near Saffron Walden this is a fantastic day out for all the family. Explore the extensive gardens and grounds, look around the historic house, picnic by the lake. Food scene
The Brewery Tap is our nearest pub 1 minute drive away or 10-15 minutes walk along lovely countryside. They serve excellent food either inside where it is modern but warm and cosy, or outside in the beautiful pub garden with big comfy chairs under a sail to keep you comfortable in the sunshine. There is a brand new play area to keep the little ones happy. Highly recommended.

The Catherine Wheel is our second nearest pub just 3-4 minutes drive. It does excellent food and amazing Sunday lunches (try the whole chicken roast or whole gammon sharer). There is lovely patio at the front which is a real suntrap where you can watch the world go by or an equally lovely back garden with comfy sofas, umbrellas and tables galore. There is a great children's play area to keep the little ones occupied. Inside it is modern and stylish and a warm welcome awaits.
