This is a hidden gem is in the Upper West Side, right on the river. We stumbled upon it by accident, and wow were we happy about it. It kinda feels like you're in a castle dungeon. Enjoy a drink on the river and watch the sunset.

A cool bar with some history. This Irish Tavern is NYC's oldest bar. It was opened in the 1850s, and no piece of memorabilia has been removed from the walls in over 100 years.

This place is great for most occasions... brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks in the evening/night. It's a favorite of locals. It's got a very cool atmosphere, and an really cool back deck/patio. Just a short walk from the house too!

You've never had Chinese food like this! The hand pulled noodles are amazing! It shouldn't even be called Chinese because it's so different! There are a few around the city, but this is the first one.

While Astoria has got Greek restaurants all over, if you're just up for a quick gyro or something that's not too fancy, this is the place to go! It's got great food, very friendly staff, not too expensive, and is only a short walk from the house. Its' one of our favorite spots in Astoria.

If you're the middle of mid-town, it's worth checking out. In the summer/spring there's a lawn that's nice for sitting out people watching. During the winter there's an ice skating rink and pop-up shops. During the winter, avoid the weekends as the shop area can get so crowded you can't walk.

Great little park with FANTASTIC people watching! You never know what kind of strange or interesting things you’ll see here. There are tons of street performers, musicians, artists, chess masters... It's definitely a spot you don't want to miss if you want to get a feel for NYC.

It's a bit of a sanctuary for birds, and other greenery and wildlife that have been able to stay isolated from the rest of NYC for the past 85 years or so. It's far south in the park, which is the part most people visit so that's convenient if you're visiting Central Park. It still has limited open hours so check online for teh hours before you go.

Looking for the best view in the city, skip the Empire State Building and go to 30 Rock. The lines are shorter, it's cheaper, and the view is better! They also have an ice skating rink in the winter, as well as the biggest Christmas tree you're likely to ever see!

Washington Street in Hoboken is fantastic. Far more peaceful than NYC, with a TON of restaurants, bars, boutiques. Great for shopping. Just a short PATH (subway) ride away.

Most NYC visitors want to visit it. Your best bet is to book your ferry tickets in advance on the official site. http://www.statuecruises.com/
Also, be aware that to go inside the statue itself, you need to get tickets fairly far in advance. You can get tickets to go inside of the pedestal that the status is standing on, and those tickets you don't need to get as early as the statue tickets, but I'm not sure it's really worth it. It's a VERY small area, crammed with people. You'll probably enjoy it better from down below.
