This locally famous, uptown French pastry shop, is where all the locals go, and is located just six blocks from the house! Stroll across the street to Starbucks if you would like! La Patisserie makes a wonderful king cake, and is a great date spot or place to bring the kids.

The highest end New Orleans restaurant in the Garden District is just a 20-30 minutes street car ride from the house down St. Charles Avenue. I recommend brunch on a warm day in the outdoor garden, which has live music from time to time.

An intimate, unpretentious locale for Asian, French & international flavors, plus ramen for lunch and dinner!!! This little restaurant is a local favorite and is located in a random area of the city; however, locals flock here because the food is just so good and creative! Expect a 45 minute wait, but it's so worth it. The prices are extremely reasonable as well!

Ok, for those that want really great New Orleans food, here you go! Close to the house with in a five minute drive. You will not forget this expereince. Expect a wait because this place is famous with locals. Zagat stats that folks “love, love, love” Jacques Leonardi's “quirky”, “original” Carrollton “joint” offering an “eclectic”, “mouthwatering delicious” Creole menu “with some unusual twists” (“alligator cheesecake, anyone?”) in a “beyond-gaudy” setting where “every inch is covered with an explosion of color”; a “high-energy” staff “moves along” crowds of “hipsters, knowledgeable tourists” and “Tulane students”, but even so, “get ready to stand in line if you go at peak hours.”

Cooter Browns Tavern is not only located in the neighborhood, but is by far my favorite bar in the city with over four hundred beers in stock from around the world, and local food that will blow your mind!!! Walk right outside and you are on the Mississippi River!!! This is where a lot of locals go!

The Sazerac Bar is extremely famous, and is located it the most prestigious hotel in the city downtown, The Roosevelt! If you're with a significant other, at a minimum, you should walk around this hotel and take a stroll into the bar just for a peak! e This bar is famous for making the most amazing sazeracs, mint julips, and pimms cups. This place is high society. Expect to spend some money.

This dive bar is famous in New Orleans for being in a shack - it's literally an old metal and wood shed! And locals love the heck out of it! Just look at the reviews online! Late hours, year-round retro holiday decor & a jukebox. Very close to the house! Expect cheap beer prices.

Perfect for a romantic date! Take the street car to this local favorite, which is located on the famous St. Charles Avenue, or walk six blocks to one located in the neighborhood! Zagat online states that you can “drink wine and listen to the streetcar go by” at this “cozy” Uptown vino bar, where “upscale bar food” (including “to-die-for” pommes frites “fried in goose fat”) complements an “outstanding wine list” that's “really the centerpiece”; service may not be on the same level as the food and drink, but most agree it's still a “good setting for trying some new wines” – especially considering its wide by-the-glass offerings.

Do you love jazz music!?!?!?! Well hand with locals in this awesome jazz bar with live music and swing dancing. Great spot to capstone the evening after a nice meal, a stroll through the art market. It does get a bit crowded but everyone's there is there to enjoy the music and some cold beers that the intimate space was actually really welcoming! Definitely stop by when visiting the NOLA area, this area is a must for visitors and locals alike!

Parks & Nature

Audubon Park is seven blocks from the house and is by far the most famous and prestigious park in the city lined with old mansions and a beautiful golf course! There is a 1.8 mile, paved inner loop for joggers and cyclist, or take to the dirt trail for the 2 mile or 3 mile loop that extends to the Mississippi River! The old tree in the city, the Tree of Life, is right on the other side of the park, and is famous with locals. I played on this tree as a little boy, people have picnic.
