This small run down cafe located in the back of a small rundown strip mall may surprise you. Breakfast portions are not too large, always fresh, and quite tasty. I have heard lunch and dinner are good as well.

Daily trips down to the LA Fish Market ensure fresh sushi in this family run restaurant. STAY away from ALL other sushi places in Tehachapi. (Albertson's has better sushi then those places).

Veritas is hit and miss when it comes to entertainment but the ambiance is pleasant and the wine selection impressive. Menu items are average but the food is prepared on site and is always fresh.

This country bar offers TV's for sporting events, occasional karaoke and DJ entertainment, and fairly priced alcohol. They do have a full menu with decent prices and decent food. Probably best for a younger crowd but I've spent my fair share of time in this place.

This small lake is pretty close to home. On windless days you should be able to pull some trout and bass. I would not picnic there or otherwise spend any time at this spot unless you love to fish.

The Glider Port at Skylark North is a full service glider flight school. Phenomenal lift conditions generated by the Sierra Nevada to the North and the Tehachapi Mountains to the South and the Mojave Desert to the East. Tourists can also take advantage. Call 661-822-2200

The Mojave Air and Spaceport was the first to gain spaceflight license and since then has been a consistent breaker of records and space barriers. You can learn about its' rich history with a visit to Voyager Restaurant and Legacy Park. I have never been to either of these because I'm just not "into it" but, who knows, you might like it:)

Getting Around
Located south of the Sierra Nevada Mountains this lovely little airport sits at 4100 feet. You won't catch me going up in one of those single engine death traps but it seems to be popular with many others

Okay...this one is weird, it took me 23 years to get off my butt and drive the beautiful back road to the lookout point so I could finally see why anybody would care to look at a train. I have to admit I spent a good 30 minutes staring down at the train and I left very satisfied. Worth the trip if you can catch a train going by, (Mapquest from the home will take you the back way. Hwy 58 is another option).
