Food Scene

This is the best West Africa restaurant in Harlem. They previously were located on 116th for over 10 years. For dinner, please try their Dibi (marinated lamb), which is incredible and only available after 7pm. Alternately, you should try their Poisson (Grilled fish), which is also fabulous. For lunch, have their Thiebu Jen (pronounced "table gin") - a great meal of amazing textures featuring fish, rice, carrots and more.

Most travelers who are NOT from Harlem know about Sylvia's Soul Food Restaurant on Lenox and 126th Street. Local people who LIVE in Harlem know about Jacobs. Excellent soul food and Jamaican dishes - and yes, it's better than Sylvia's. Food here is weighed by the pound. So you pick and choose what food you'd like to sample and place in your container; price is ~$6/lb Their mac-n-cheese and jerk chicken are outstanding.
